Renaissance Austin Hotel Puts Name to New Meeting Space and Sets Opening in Summer 2008

Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 30, 2008 -- The Renaissance Austin Hotel just announced the name to its grand, new meeting space. The new 5,000 square foot ballroom is located on the West side of the property and will be called "The Glass Oaks" room.

The name stems from the exquisite, arched, floor-to-ceiling glass windows which complete one side of the entire room and provide guests an inspiring view of the green hill country and the beautiful oak trees. Since the hotel is also set in the Arboretum area of town in Northwest Austin, the name also ties in with the beautiful décor and the various species of oaks in the surrounding area.

"The Glass Oaks ballroom will offer our guests the opportunity to host elegant events and catered functions in a truly unique Hill Country setting. It should be of special interest to meeting and wedding planners since the space is versatile, and extravagant in design and décor, with terrific windows and views. This will also be a great compliment to the existing space and world class services that the Renaissance currently provides its guests." said Rob Gillette, General Manager of the Renaissance Austin Hotel.

The elegant new Austin banquet room will be the perfect setting for large weddings, upscale events and sophisticated catered social and corporate affairs. The Glass Oaks space will be the newest and most unique space in Austin featuring views of the Texas Hill Country, separate and full catering kitchen, and eye-catching design concepts.

The décor is upscale contemporary with soft lighting, which will create a memorable experience. Enhanced by the lush greenery and wildflowers, the space will feature copper-tin, barrel-vaulted ceilings complimented with coffered wood mahogany panels and copper-tin pressed plate inserts. New furnishings include a seven piece, amber-red serpentine sectional couch complimented by gold accents with tan tile flooring in the elegant pre-function area. The ballroom will also include a built-in bar featuring a back-lit pressed-fern translucent countertop and face panels. The carpet inside will also carry-out the color palette with an added hint of black in its red ribbon patterns. Seating will also include black-pin stripes in the color scheme. The restrooms will include backlit lighting on the countertops with the women's room highlighting fern-pressed translucent counter tops. The men's room has glass and mirrored ship countertops decorated in a translucent resin with dark wood accents.

Amber red crystal and gold-leafed chandeliers create an ambient glow against the copper-tin ceiling with similar amber red and gold-leafed sconces that decorate the remaining walls for the overall lighting scheme. The arched doors, large-scale windows, acoustical wood, and overall neutral palette reflect the room's versatility for any type of theme or function. The space is also engineered with the latest high-tech audio-visual, sound, and lighting amenities.

Construction on the space will be complete by June with a grand opening planned for summer 2008. This additional 5,000 square feet of meeting space will increase the Austin hotel's total square footage to 65,000. When possible, materials used in construction of the project were made from recycled products and keep with the "green" concept that is environmentally friendly.
